Seattle restaurants and hotels endorse Jenny Durkan, Sara Nelson and Scott Lindsay

SEATTLE (JUNE 19, 2017) – The Seattle restaurant and hotel community has endorsed Jenny Durkan for mayor, Sara Nelson for city council position 8 and Scott Lindsay for city attorney in the coming election.

Seattle Hospitality for Progress is the political arm of the Seattle Hotel Association and Seattle Restaurant Alliance that represents more than 2,500 restaurants and 60 hotels.

The selected candidates best understand the issues the hospitality community faces, said Shannon Sheron, co-chair of Seattle Hospitality for Progress, general manager, Motif Seattle, and the president of the Seattle Hotel Association.

“These three candidates are the partners our community and city most need,” Sheron said. “They not only understand the daily challenges of our diverse and changing city, but they offer practical solutions and real-world experience that make them our clear choices.”

With many candidates to choose from in the mayor’s race, Durkan was selected because of her focus on identifying positive, productive outcomes for the community as a whole, said Linda Morton, co-chair of Seattle Hospitality for Progress, board member of the Seattle Restaurant Alliance and co-owner of Terra Plata.

“Seattle works best when we come together,” Morton said. “We are confident Jenny Durkan will use the Mayor’s Office to effectively collaborate with all stakeholders and identify solutions that work for everyone. She rose to the top because of her investment in the vitality of our local economy and the community.”
