Keeping Hotel Employees and Guests Safe

The American Hotel and Lodging Association (AHLA) has released an updated version of the AHLA Safe Stay Guidelines, an industry-wide, enhanced set of health and safety protocols designed to provide a safe and clean environment for all hotel employees and guests. The health and safety of all employees and guests remains the top priority for the hotel and lodging industry.

In keeping with this commitment, the evolving AHLA Safe Stay Guidelines remain an important tool in supporting the hotel industry. Included in the Safe Stay Guidelines is an enhanced industry-wide hotel cleaning checklist for hotels, as well as a guest checklist.

All hotels are encouraged to fill out this AHLA checklist and implement the AHLA Safe Stay program to demonstrate an industry-wide consistent commitment to health and safety protocols.

The new updated Safe Stay Guidelines include the following:

  • Information on face coverings requirement in all indoor public spaces
  • Updated overview on events and meetings protocols
  • Member resource information on collateral available on the Safe Stay website.

In addition, AHLA provides the COVID-19 Precautions for Hotels, an online course developed in partnership with the American Hotel & Lodging Educational Institute (AHLEA) to train staff on the elements in the Safe Stay Guidelines.  Hotels are encouraged to take advantage of this opportunity to utilize this online resource to train hotel staff on the enhanced safety and cleanliness guidelines.

Utilizing these best practices, including requiring face coverings and practicing social distancing in public spaces, will create an even safer environment for all our guests and employees. If you have not already done so, please show your support for this initiative and endorse Safe Stay.

Additional resources are available for hotel and lodging members of AHLA. Visit ahla for more information.
