This week, the city of Seattle announced the Back to Business program which offers support for storefront repair.

The program offers support in three areas:

  • Storefront Repair Fund- Up to $3,000 per business three times to reimburse business owners for the cost of fixing damages from vandalism or other property damage. These grants can help pay for fixing items such doors, locks, fences, gates, signs and windows. They do not cover the loss of stolen goods or graffiti. You can learn more or apply at the link here.
  • Storefront Security Fund- Up to $6,000 per business to reimburse the costs of improving security measures to prevent future storefront damage. Business owners must first complete a Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) security assessment with a certified expert before they apply. Reimbursement is only available for security measures purchased after completing the CPTED security assessment. You can learn more or apply at the link here.
  • Neighborhood Business District Investments- Funding to improve public safety in identified neighborhood business areas. The city will work with BIA’s and other neighborhood organizations to fund CPTED projects with the goal of improving public safety in the city.
